About the Society

IRDS is a non-profit voluntary organization, registered in 2004 under Societies Registration Act 21, 1860 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Indian Rural Development Society (IRDS) is promoted by a group of professionals committed to the upliftment of the weaker, underprivileged and needy. It strives to make the idea of a society consisting of free and equal citizens from rural backgrounds who may come together and solve the problems that affect them in their particular context. It encompasses all sections without regard to caste, creed or race and is unaffiliated to any particular group or sector. The Prime Focus areas in which the organization is working are:  Empower women to be financially independent through capacity building and promoting Income Generating Activities by creating self help groups.

Our Approaches

  • Imparting Education in remote areas through innovative measures.
  • Mensuration Taboo, Health & Hygiene related issues & programs.
  • Building partnerships with other organizations including government bodies.
  • Providing Technical Education to children in remote areas and taking capacity building measures to villages.
  • To make campaigns of tree plantation within communities and empower youth to take Agriculture seriously within the region.
  • To eliminate gender inequalities in primary and secondary education by achieving equality in education, ensuring girls’ full and equal access to basic education of good quality.

Primary Objective

Working towards sustainable and all-around development of the marginalized and socially deprived population.

Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life.
